Problem: Users upgrading to Windows 7 from Windows Vista may face a problem in which Windows 7 stores too many minidumps, which are memory images saved on the system when your PC crashes. By default Windows 7 keeps 50 latest minidumps files.
Resolution: Perform the following steps to resolve this issue:
STEP 1. Run the regedit command line utility to start the Registry Editor.
STEP 2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl registry key.
STEP 3. Set the value for MiniDumpsCount to 1.
STEP 4. This will ensure that Windows will only keep the last dump file and this will free up a little hard drive space on your system.
